Spotlight – 5 features you might not be using

Spotlight is a very handy tool and can be a real timesaver! If you're familiar with Spotlight, you probably know It can be used to quickly access documents, emails and apps, but you might not know about all the other things it can help with! Here's 5 features we find very useful..

1. Calculations

Press command + space bar to open Spotlight, then simply type the calculation you wish to make (x for multiplications, + for additions, – for subtractions and / for divisions).

2. Weather Forecast

Press command + space bar to open Spotlight, then type the location of your choice followed by ‘weather’ and all the information for the current and following days will pop right up!

3. Currency Conversions

Press command + space bar to open Spotlight, then type the name/symbol and value of the currency you wish to convert. The converted value will be displayed in a list of multiple currencies. If the currency you’re after isn’t on the list, you can be more specific, e.g ‘£40 in Australian dollar’.

4. Definitions

Press command + space bar to open Spotlight, then simply type any word of your choice followed by ‘definition’ and it’ll be right there!

5. Directions

Press command + space bar to open Spotlight, then type ‘directions’ followed by the name of the location/building you want to find. After that simply click directions and maps will open up with your journey options and information.
